Boey Chasing London Olympic Games

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois senior sprinter Zye Boey has London on his mind as he will compete at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., over the next week trying to earn a spot on the United States Olympic Team.  The 2012 Olympic Games will take place in London.

Boey will compete in the 100m prelims on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. (Pacific Time).  He will then compete in the 200m prelims on Friday, June 29 at 1:45 p.m.

Boey ended his EIU career earning second team All-American honors at the NCAA National Championships in both the 100m and 200m sprints.  He is the school record holder in both events and during the course of his career was a five-time track All-American in both indoor and outdoor track.

John Craft is the only EIU track athlete to represent the United States in track at the Olympic Games placing fifth in the triple jump at the 1972 Munich Olympics.  Dan Steele, a former All-American in track, earned a bronze medal in the bobsled at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games.
