 O'Grady and Arnholt

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s track will have its final tune-up for the 2009 NCAA Regional as the Panthers send small teams to two meets this Thursday and Friday. This will be the final chance for several athletes to improve their marks and possibly punch their ticket to the Regional.

EIU has already qualified nine individuals to compete in 13 events at the Regional to be held in Louisville, Ky. on 29-30. The Panthers will also send both men’s and women’s 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to the championships.

This weekend the Panthers will send a small squad of runners to compete in Louisville on Friday to get their first look at Cardinal Park.

Additional distance runners and athletes looking to hit a Division I regional qualifying time will compete at the North Central College Gregory Invite with limited action on Thursday and a full slate on Friday.

The Panthers were originally scheduled to travel to the Reebok Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech but due to a large number of athletes making the regional decided to stay in the area and get an early look at the NCAA Regional host site.
