Cross Country Gets Early OVC Preview

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois cross country will get an early preview of this year’s Ohio Valley Conference Championship field as they compete this weekend at the Evansville Cross Country Invitational featuring six teams from the OVC. 

Scheduled to compete in the men’s 8K race and women’s 5K race will be Austin Peay, Murray State, Southeast Missouri, UT Martin and Tennessee Tech from the OVC. Other NCAA Division I teams entered in the field are Belmont, Lipscomb, Marshall, and Evansville. The men’s race begins at 11 a.m. followed by the women’s race. 

The Panther women are coming off a fourth place finish at the Lucian Rosa Invite in Kenosha, Wis. Olivia Klaus was named the OVC Female Runner of the Week after placing sixth at the event and third among scored competitors. 

The Panther men will be competing in their first race against outside competition since the Illinois Intercollegiate on Sept. 16. They did compete in the Walt Crawford Alumni meet on Oct. 3 in Charleston. 

The OVC Championships will take place on Oct. 31 in Nashville. The UE Cross Country course is located at 20404 Barton Road in Evansville.
