Track Opens Spring Season At Illinois

EIU opened the season hosting the EIU Early Bird Meet back in December.  The EIU women won the meet that also featured Indiana State and Illinois State.  The Panther men placed second.

Earlier this week Angelica AnyaoguJalisa Paramore and Johnathan Boey were all honored as the OVC Male and Female Athletes of the Week for track.  Anyaogu was named the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week while Boey was the Male Track Athlete of the Week.  Paramore was the Female Field Athlete of the Week.

Strong early season performances for the Panthers included Riley Kittridge whose throw of 54'10" in the men's shot put ranks 8th on the EIU career list.  Paramore won the women's long jump with her distance of 18'10.75" ranking 5th on the EIU career list.  Anyaogu set the school record in the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.58 while Boey's 60m time of 6.75 ranks 8th on the men's career list.  Kristen Paris ran a time of 2:16.83 in the women's 800m which is 9th best in school history.

In the pole vault All-Americans Mick Viken and Jade Riebold both won the men's and women's events.  On the women's side Kirstie WieberSadie LovettLauralyn Rosenberger and Kelsie Abolt all posted top ten marks in the pole vault.
