CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s track will split its squad for each of the next two weeks as the Panthers prep for the Ohio Valley Conference Championships set to take place on April 30 and May 1 at Tennessee Tech. As part of that split squad EIU will send one group of athletes to the Vanderbilt Invite while another group will head to the Gateway Classic hosted by SIU Edwardsville.

For the Vanderbilt Invitational, EIU will send 15 athletes to compete in track events only. The Panthers will enter in the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay while also competing individually in the 100m, 400m, 800m, 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles. Part of that group will include junior Megan Gingerich who was named the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Lee Calhoun Classic in which she won the 800m run and ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay team.

The remainder of the EIU squad will head to the Gateway Classic hosted by SIU Edwardsville. Next week the Panthers will again split their squad as a limited number of athletes have been accepted to compete at the Drake Relays while the remainder will head to Indianapolis for the Stan Lyons Invite hosted by Butler.
