Track Posts 13 First Place Finishes At SIU

Panthers open outdoor season with second place team finish
 

EIU will return to action next weekend hosting the EIU Big Blue Classic and Neil Moore Multis.

Norvell Mohammed and Danny Trevor both led the EIU men with a pair of first place finishes on the track.  Mohammed won the 200m and 400m sprints.  His winning time in the 200m was 21.02 which ranks 9th on the EIU career list.  He won the 400m with a time of 47.95.   Teammate Calvin Edwards was second in the 200m with a time of 21.60. 

Trevor won the 110m and 400m hurdle events.  His winning time in the 110m hurdles was 14.75.  He won the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.58.  Trevor later ran the opening leg on the first place 4x400 relay team which posted a time of 3:17.54.  Trevor was joined by Michael BrownMark Pedziwiatr and Christopher Orlow on the relay squad.   Teammate Christian Kolb was second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.69.

Nyjah Lane had the lone individual first place finish for the Panther women's squad.  Lane won the 100m dash with a time of 12.13.  She also ran the anchor leg on the first place 4x100 relay team that had a time of 47.13.  Lane was joined by Angelica AnyaoguBriana Walker and Anita Saffa.

The EIU women's 4x400 relay captured the top spot on the podium with a time of 3:54.69.  The 4x400 relay team included Amina JacksonKristen ParisAmy Yeomanand Dhiaa Dean

EIU men's 4x100 relay team placed first with a time of 40.76.  The team included Johnathan Boey, Edwards, Jamal Robinson and Christian Ilunga-Matthiesen.  In the men's 100m dash Boey edged Ilunga-Matthiesen by four 100ths of a second to win the event as both runners crossed at 10.62.

Ephraim DorseyJoe Calio and David Johansson rounded out the EIU first place finishers.  Dorsey won the 800m run with a time of 1:55.15.  Calio won the steeplechase with a time of 9:17.22.  Johansson won the javelin with a throw of 188'03".  Kendall Williams was second in the men's long jump clearing 22'01".

In women's field events Haleigh Knapp and Jackie Jones tied for second in the high jump both clearing 5'05".  Anyaogu was second in the long jump at 17'3.50".  On the track Walker was second in the 100m dash with a time of 11:35.04.  Ivy Handley was second in the steeplechase with a time of 11:35.04.
