McInerney honored with co-runner of the week by OVC following Illinois State Invitational

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Eastern Illinois junior runner Riley McInerney was named Male Co-Runner of the Week by the OVC on Tuesday [Sept. 15] after his performance at the Illinois State Invitational.

McInerney placed second out of 82 runners at the Illinois State Invitational on Friday in Normal. He covered the 8K course in a time of 24:41.7 which placed him just three seconds behind the race winner from ISU. His time was the 22nd-fastest in school history and the third-fastest in the OVC this season. McInerney also holds the best time in the OVC for the 4-mile race with a time of 20:05.6 which is three seconds faster than fellow PantherPaxson Menard.

The other OVC Runners of the Week include Erick Rotich of Eastern Kentucky who shares this honor with McInerney and Charlotte Imer also from Eastern Kentucky earning Female Runner of the Week.

EIU cross country will next appear in the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend on Oct. 2nd.
