TRACK WITH 16 TOP THREE FINISHES AT ILLINOIS

Eastern Illinois track and field had a successful Saturday competing at the Illini Twilight with the Panthers posting 16 top three individual finishes including a win by senior Jasmine Woodley in the women's hammer.
 
Woodley won the event with a throw of 172'1".  She edged teammate MaKenna Wilson by seven inches in the event as Wilson had a second place effort of 171'6".  It proved to be one of three second place finishes for Wilson on the day.  Wilson was second in the shot put with a mark of 43'10.75".  She was second in the discus with a throw of 143'10" which ranks ninth on the EIU career list.  Marie Koch was third in the discus with a mark of 142'9".
 
On the track the EIU men were led by Jekeel Suber with a second place finish in the men's 110 meter hurdles.  Suber's time was 14.57.  Riley Baker was third in the men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.10.
 
Payton Powell and Tadiwa Mhonde both had second place finishes for the Panther men in sprints.  Powell was second in the men's 200 meter dash with a time of 21.91.  Mhonde was second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.88.
 
Avani Flanagan was third in the women's steeplechase with a time of 11:16.58.  The time ranks tenth on the EIU career top ten list.  Grace Rowan was second in the women's 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:39.12.
 
The EIU women tacked on three more top three finishes in hurdles and sprints.  Pedra Hicks was second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.54.  Kristen Dowell was third in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.40.  Vivica Coleman was third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.18.
 
Seniors Kaitlyn Ebert and Joe Smith rounded out the top three finishers for the Panthers in field events.  Ebert was second in the women's javelin with a throw of 108'7".  Smith was third in the men's triple jump finishing with a mark of 48'2".
