Tyler Arnholt places fifth in discus at Drake Relays

Arnholt placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 173'10". Arnholt had been the winner of his flight in the prelims before earning the top five finish.

In additional relay action at Drake EIU placed second in the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay. The team posted a time of 57.67 finishing second behind Cincinnati. The relay team was comprised of Lamarr PottingerTyler CarterPat Tortorici and Dominique Hall

The remaining members of the Panthers track and field team competed in Indianapolis on Saturday evening posting twelve top five finishes including a school record by Abigail Schmitzin the pole vault. Schmitz placed third in the event clearing 12'1.25" as she became the first EIU female pole vaulter to clear the 12' barrier.

Donald Romero placed third in the hammer with a throw of 193'06" as he continued his climb up the EIU record book currently ranking third in the event behind Braidy and Brent Miller.

The women's 4x100 relay team also posted a top ten EIU mark with a time of 46.87 as they placed second. The relay team comprised of Emily QuinonesBridget SanchezJaida Mooreand Klaudia Susul compiled the eighth best time in EIU history. 

Three of those individual runners would also earn top five finishes in their events. Sanchez won the 200m at 24.88 while Moore was fourth at 25.18. Susul was fourth in the 100m at 12.47.

Jalisa Paramore rounded out the EIU women's top five finishers placing fifth in the 100m hurdles.

Chad Aubin picked up the Panthers other first place finish at the Stan Lyons as he won the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.27. He was followed by teammate Kris Gehrke in second at 53.42.

Graham Morris was fourth in the 1500m at 3:51.88 and Aaron Iaun was fifth in the steeplechase at 9:39.50 to round up the men's track event top five finishers.

Scott Mammoser posted a third place height in the pole vault clearing 15'11.75".
