Track Hosts John Craft Invite This Saturday

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and field will play host to the John Craft Invitational this Saturday at the Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse.  The former 'EIU Mega Meet' was renamed last year in honor of the former Panthers track star and this will be the first event with his named formally attached.  Events are slated to begin at 9 a.m.

The meet will feature teams from Arkansas Baptist, Arkansas State, Chicago State, Greenville College, McKendree and Vincennes along with several track and field clubs.  This will be EIU's second meet of the indoor season.  The Panthers were last in action on Dec. 9 hosting the EIU Early Bird.

Four Eastern Illinois athletes enter this weekend's meet with top 25 NCAA national rankings. Zye Boey is currently 12th in the nation in the 60m and 13th in the nation in the 200m.  Boey was an All-American in the indoor 200m last season.  Donald Romero is currently 14th in the weight throw.  Pole vaulters Mick Viken and Jade Riebold are both in the top 25.  Viken is 19th in the men's pole vault while Riebold is 22nd in the women's pole vault.
