EIU Track Sweeps Weekly OVC Honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois swept all four weekly track and field honors as the Ohio Valley Conference announced its winners.  Zye BoeyMick VikenBritney Whiteheadand Jade Riebold all won honors following top performances at the Drake Relays.

Boey continued to perform well in the sprints at the Drake Relays over the weekend, placing second in the 100-meter dash with a season best time of 10.23.  He then ran a leg of the 4x100-meter relay team, which placed second setting the EIU school record with a time of 39.85.

Viken took first in the pole vault at the Drake Relays with a height of 17'-8.5”, which tops the OVC Bests List and matched the school record he set earlier this season.

Whitehead placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Drake Relays in 10:23.91.  The time set the Panther school record and topped the OVC Bests List.

Riebold continued to set records in the pole vault last week. At EIU's Tuesday Tweener meet, she broke her own school record by vaulting 14'-1.75”, qualifying her for the US Olympic Trials. She then won the event at the Drake Relays on Saturday with a height of 13”-7.25”.

EIU returns to action this weekend to defend its OVC men's and women's outdoor track championships.
