Two School Records Fall For Track At Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – Eastern Illinois track and field set two school records while adding another individual first place finish as the Panthers wrapped up competition at the 103rd Drake Relays.  EIU will return to action next weekend at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.  EIU has won three straight men's and women's outdoor titles.

Graham Morris picked up EIU's third individual first place finish of the weekend as the junior won the men's steeplechase.  Morris posted a winning time of 8:52.76 which ranks third fastest in EIU school history.

Britney Whitehead added a strong showing for the Panthers in the women's steeplechase.  She placed second in the event with her time of 10:23.91 setting the EIU school record.

The final school record was set by the men's 4x100 meter relay as they placed second in the event.  The relay team of Jacob MitchellKaleel JohnsonZye Boey and Steven Clark posted a time of 39.85 which is the first sub-40 4x100 mark in school history.

Earlier in the day Boey picked up an individual silver medal by placing second in the 100m dash.  He ran a time of 10.23.  It was the second time in his EIU career that Boey had placed second in the 100m dash at the Drake Relays.

In other action on the day EIU's sprint medley teams were solid with the men finishing sixth with a time of 3:22.97.  The women placed 10th with a time of 4:00.63.  The men's DMR was 12th with a time of 9:58.75.
