EIU Posts 18 First Place Finishes At Tweener

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois and Indiana State competed in the Tuesday Tweener track and field meet on Tuesday afternoon at O'Brien Field with the Panthers picking up 18 first place finishes in the abbreviated schedule.  In addition to the first place finishes seven athletes posted marks in the EIU career top ten including one school and facility record.

Jade Riebold posted her third straight strong performance in the pole vault as she passed her own school record in the event while also setting the O'Brien Field record.  Riebold cleared 14'1.75” to win the event as she heads to the Drake Relays this weekend.  Teammate Abigail Schmitz finished third in the event with a height of 12'11.50” which is second best on the EIU career list.

On the track Jalisa ParamoreJustine Moore and Dominique Hall all posted EIU career top ten times in the women's and men's hurdles.  Paramore won the 100m women's hurdles with a time of 13.94 which is second best on EIU's career list.  Moore was second in the race at 14.48 which is eighth best on EIU's career list.  Hall won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.33 which landed at number ten on the EIU career list.

Condia Smith had three first place finishes for the Panthers in field events.  She won the discus, javelin and shot put.  Smith's discus throw was 153'07” which is second best on the EIU career list.  She won the javelin with a throw of 111' and won the shot put with a toss of 42'1.25”.  She placed second in the hammer but her throw of 150'10 is seventh best on the EIU career list.

Jared Diaz had the lone win for the EIU men in throwing events as he won the discus with a distance of 159'5”.

Danny Harris and Tyler Allen picked up wins for the EIU men in jumps.  Harris won the long jump with a mark of 23'0.50”.  Allen was the winner in the triple jump clearing 48'10”.  Jaimee Roy won the women's long jump with a mark of 18'0.25”.

On the track Lauren Doyle was the first place finisher in both the 100m and 200m sprints.  She won the 100m with a time of 12.14.  Her winning time in the 200m was 25.62.

EIU won both the men's and women's 400m hurdles and 1500m distance events.  Christian Kolb won the men's 400m hurdles in 55.54 while Janessa Clay won the women's 400m hurdles in 1:04.32.  Mattt Black won the men's 1500m with a time of 4:03.70 while Stephanie Peisker won the women's 1500m in a time of 4:54.87.

Erika Foltys was the winner in the 800m at 2:18.92 and Olivia Klaus rounded out the first place finishers for EIU winning the 5K with a time of 18:13.83.

EIU will send a group of athletes to this weekend's Drake Relays before defending their Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track Championships in two weeks.
