Track Posts More Top Three Finishes At Vandy

NASHVILLE – Eastern Illinois track and field wrapped up competition at the Vanderbilt Invite on Saturday afternoon posting two individual first place finishes and two relay first place finishes.  The Panthers will return to action on Tuesday hosting the Tuesday Tweener at O'Brien Field.

Zye Boey continued his string of first place finishes in sprint events as he picked up gold in the 100m as well as the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay.  Boey won the 100m dash with a time of 10.52.  He ran the third leg on the 4x100 relay team which finished at 40.54.  He was the second leg on the 4x400 which won at 3:13.29.  Joining Boey on the 4x100 relay team wasJacob MitchellKaleel Johnson and Steven Clark.  The 4x400 relay consisted of Joe AugustineStefan Gorol and Cody Boarman.

Mitchell and Gorol both added individual top three finishes.  Mitchell was third in the 100m at 10.81.  Gorol was second in the 400m at 47.90.

Jade Riebold soared to a first place finish for the women in the pole vault.  The sophomore smashed her own school record by nearly a foot as she won the event with a height of 13'8.25”.  Teammate Abigail Schmitz was third in the event at 12'6.25” which ranks second on the EIU career charts.

Graham Morris and Bryce Basting raced each other into the EIU career top ten in the 800m.  Morris and Basting had a photo finish for third and fourth place with both crossing at 1:51.16.  That time ties both runners for ninth place on EIU's career top ten.  It marked Morris second EIU career top ten mark of the weekend.

DominIque Hall and Donald Romero both added a pair of top three finishes for the EIU men.  Hall was second in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles.  His time in the 110m was 14.34 while his time in 400m hurdles was 53.55.  Romero was third in the discus and second in the hammer.  His discus mark was 161'9” while his hammer mark was 184'11”.

On the women's side Megan Gingerich had a pair of top three finishes with one in the 800m and the other as a member of the 4x400 relay.  Gingerich was second in the 800m at 2:06.82.  She ran the second leg on the 4x400 relay as the team placed second at 3:47.60.  She was joined by Emily QuinonesErika Ramos and Bridget Sanchez.

Jalisa Paramore was third in the 100m hurdles at 14.22.  Queenie Adeboyejo was third in the triple jump at 38'1.50”.
