CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and field returns to action this weekend as the Panthers travel to the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville.  Events on Friday will begin at 3 p.m. with Saturday's schedule slated for a 10 a.m. start.  The EIU men enter the weekend ranked No. 11 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional rankings.

The Panthers are coming off a strong performance in the WKU Hilltopper Relays last week where they posted eleven individual first place finishes.  Zye BoeyMick Viken and Jade Riebold were all named Ohio Valley Conference Athletes of the Week based on their performances.

Boey enters the weekend ranked 20th in the nation in the 100m and 26th nationally in the 200m.  The 4x100 relay team that he runs the third leg on is ranked 50th in the NCAA.

Viken is the Panthers highest ranked competitor nationally as he is 9th in the pole vault after setting the EIU school record in the event last week at WKU.  Teammate Joe Noonan is currently ranked 37th in the nation in the pole vault after clearing the 17' mark last week.

Riebold is the lone EIU female athlete ranked in the top 60 nationally as she is currently 57th in the pole vault.  Riebold set the EIU school record in the event last weekend.

Donald Romero and Graham Morris round out the EIU individuals that rank in the top 60 entering the Vanderbilt meet.  Romero is currently 46th in the nation in the hammer throw.  Morris is currently 59th in the steeplechase. 

Following the weekend meet at Vanderbilt, EIU will host a new event the Tuesday Tweener on April 24 at O'Brien Field which will include many athletes that will not travel to the Drake Relays the following weekend.
