Boey, Riebold Win OVC Weekly Track Honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois Zye Boey and Jade Riebold captured the Ohio Valley Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week Awards for the second straight week following top performances at the Vanderbilt Invite.  Both athletes will travel to the Drake Relays this weekend.

Boey captured four gold medals at the Vanderbilt Invite with two coming in individual races and two as a part of relay teams.  Boey won the 100m and 200m events with his time of 20.51 in the 200m passing his own previous school record time of 20.67.  Boey also ran a leg of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays which placed first.  Boey enters the Drake Relays ranked in the Top 25 nationally in both the 100m and 200m sprints.

Riebold won the pole vault at the Vanderbilt Invite breaking her own school record in the event by nearly a foot.  Riebold won the pole vault with a height of 13'8.25”.  She is currently 16th in the nation in the pole vault heading into the Drake Relays.

EIU will send a small group of athletes to compete in the 103rd Drake Relays this weekend.  The remaining athletes will compete in today's Tuesday Tweener meet at EIU.   The EIU men enter today's meet ranked 11th in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region poll.
