Riebold, Viken Selected To National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern Illinois will send a pair of pole vaulters to this year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships to be held this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.  Jade Riebold and Mick Viken both qualified for the championship event.

Riebold cleared 14' during the season and will enter the national championships seeded seventh.  Last year she earned second team All-American honors in the pole vault at the indoor championships.  She was named the OVC Female Field Athlete of the Year and Female Athlete of the Championships.

Viken cleared 17'10.50” over the weekend at the Arkansas Last Chance meet to earn a spot in this year's championship field.  He enters ranked 12th as he passed his own school record at the meet last weekend by two inches.

The pole vault events take place on Friday & Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.  The men compete on Friday and the women on Saturday.
