Riebold National Runner-Up In Pole Vault

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Eastern Illinois junior Jade Riebold was the NCAA National Runner-Up in the women's pole vault after placing second based on attempts at the NCAA Indoor National Championships on Saturday evening.

Riebold and Natalia Bartnovskaya of Kansas both cleared 14'7.25” with Bartnovskaya having fewer attempts than Riebold to win the championship.  The height was 7.25 inches above Riebold's previous career high of 14' set at the OVC Championships earlier this year.

She scored eight points for the Panthers as they finished tied for 25th as a team.  It was the highest individual finish for a Panthers female track athlete at the NCAA Division I level.

EIU has now completed its indoor track and field season. Mick Viken placed eighth for the EIU men in the pole vault on Friday night.  His one point earned EIU a 54th place finish as a team.
