Five First Place Finishes For Track On Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Eastern Illinois track and field posted five first place finishes on Friday as the Panthers wrapped up the regular season at the Louisville Twilight.  EIU next travels to the NCAA West Regional where the top 48 athletes in each event qualify to compete in regional meet.

Erika Ramos and Britney Whitehead placed first and second in the women's 800m run with Ramos posting a career best in the event.  Ramos won with a time of 2:07.35.  Whitehead, who has already qualified for the NCAA Regional in the steeplechase, posted a time of 2:09.19.  Bryce Basting was second in the men's 800m race with a time of 1:51.30.

Dominique Hall gave EIU a first place finish on the track winning the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.13.  In the women's 100m hurdles Sharda Bettis of Murray State edged Jalisa Paramorein a rematch of last weeks OVC women's 100m hurdle final.  Bettis had a time of 13.53 with Paramore in at 13.74.  Paramore won the gold at the OVC Championships helped EIU win its fifth straight women's OVC title.

Calvin Edwards completed the EIU first place finishers on the track winning the 200m dash with a time of 21.47.  Kaleel Johnson was second in the men's 100m at 10.79.  Daniel Trevorwas second in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.19.

In field events EIU added two more first place finishes.  Jade Riebold won the women's pole vault clearing 13'8.25".  David Johansson won the men's javelin with a throw of 195'6".
