Run At NCAA Nationals Ends For Zye Boey

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Eastern Illinois redshirt freshman Zye Boey had his run at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships come to an end in the prelims on Wednesday night in Arkansas.

Boey placed 7th in his prelim heat with a time of 10.50 which was one of his slowest 100m times of the season. He finished 26th overall in the meet. Boey had entered the national championships ranked 10th in the nation in the 100m dash with a season best time of 10.20. He placed 5th at the NCAA Mid East Regional with a time of 10.25 ten days ago in Louisville, Ky.

For the season Boey posted two appearances in the NCAA National Championships advancing to the indoor meet in the 200m and the outdoor meet in the 100m. He was named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Year in both the indoor and outdoor season. This season he moved into the top three in the 100m and 200m indoor and outdoor sprints on the EIU career charts.
