EIU Men's Track Set To Defend OVC Title

Panther women look to regain crown at OVC Championship this weekend

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois track and field travels to the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track Championships this Friday and Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.  The EIU men head into the championships having won five straight indoor titles.  The Panther women placed third last year having their streak of four straight indoor championships snapped by Southeast Missouri.

Events begin at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday at the Gentry Center on the campus of Tennessee State University.  This year the women's pentathlon and men's heptathlon have been added as championship events.

The Panthers currently have six individual athletes and one relay squad that rank first in their events heading into the OVC Championships.  In total EIU has 27 individuals/relay teams that rank in the top three in their events this season and could challenge for a medal in those events.
