Cross country finishes season at NCAA regional

PEORIA, Ill. - PEORIA, Ill. - Eastern Illinois concluded the 2010 cross country season on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Bradley University in Peoria. The Panther men finished 21st while the women were 20th.

Bradley LaRocque was the top men's runner for EIU covering the 10K distance in a time of 32:14.36 as he was the lone EIU runner in the top 100 finishing at 94th. Matt Dettloff was 117th at 32:49.38 while Matt Feldhake was 123rd at 32:55.94.

Connor Kustief placed 132nd at 33:08.23 while Danny Delaney rounded out the EIU scoring runners in 135th at 33:10.21. Wes Sheldon and Ryan Ballard were the sixth and seventh EIU entries. Sheldon was 144th at 33:37.36 and Ballard was 154th at 34:16.14.

Oklahoma won the men's regional title with 43 points followed closely by Oklahoma State. Colby Lowe of Oklahoma State won the individual title at 29:30.70.

Senior Caitlin Napoleoni the top women's finisher for EIU placing 98th with a time of 23:06.41 on the 6K course. Olivia Klaus the Panthers top runner most of the season was 101st at 22:09.63. Gabriela Duenas was 114th at 22:27.05, Brittany Arthur was 121st at 22:35.14 and Erika Ramos rounded out the scored EIU runners in 139th at 22:58.32.

Megan Gingerich placed 153rd at 23:20.41 and Elizabeth Dole was 160th at 23:27.46 to round out the seven EIU runners at the regional meet.

Iowa State won the women's regional title with 35 points with Oklahoma State second. Stephanie Price of Minnesota was the individual winner at 20:01.48
