Panthers secure seven new, or improved, Top 10 marks at the two-day event

The Panthers will next compete at the two-day (Feb. 6-7) Notre Dame Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. this coming weekend.

Dhiaa Dean registered a 56.19 time in the 400-Meter Dash to finish in fourth place overall and first place in the first section finals.  That time improves her Top 10 mark up to No. 3 in the EIU record books.

Also improving on her previous EIU Top 10 time, Kristen Paris placed first place in the 800-Meter Run first section finals to capture third place overall off her 2:11.65 finish, which now ranks as the No. 3 fastest Panther mark.

The Panther foursome of Amina Jackson, Paris, Camelia Nicholson, and Dean teamed up to capture a third place finish in the 4x400-Meter Relay, as their 3:50.19 finish now ranks No. 5 in the EIU record books.

For the guys, Norvel Mohammed added his name to the EIU marks for the second straight day as he finished second place overall in the 400-Meter Dash with a new No. 4 Panther time of 47.87.

Friday (Jan. 30) highlights included junior Dhiaa Dean capturing first place in the 600-Meter Run with a time of 1:34.19, coming less than two seconds off her previous EIU school record mark.

Three additional Panthers also added their name to the EIU Indoor Record Book as senior Katie Ryan came in fourth in the prelims of the 60-Meter Hurdles with a 8.82 finish to now rank No. 8.  Sophomore Rachel Garippo also set a new No. 8 mark in the 3000-Meter Run as she placed sixth with a time of 10:10.49.

Junior Norvel Mohammed followed suit for the guys, adding his name to the EIU 200-Meter Dash Top 10 with a fourth place 21.66 finish, which again now ranks No. 8 in the EIU Top 10.
