Women's Track Signs Two All-State Athletes

Abby Nicholson and Sophia Keith set to join EIU women's track program
 
 
Nicholson competes in throws at Jamaica HS where she has advanced to the IHSA Class 1A State Championships all three years of her prep career.  Last season she placed third in the state in discus with a finals throw of 131'3".  She was runner-up in the Tolono Unity Sectional in the discus after winning the sectional title in the shot put with a throw of 40'10".  She helped her team place second in the IHSA Class 1A meet.  As a sophomore she advanced to the state meet winning both event titles at the St. Joseph-Ogden Sectional.  She was fourth in the state in the discus with a finals throw of 123'9".  She placed 10th in the state in the shot put.  As a freshman she won both events at the Catlin Sectional moving on to place eighth in the state with a finals mark of 114'11" in the discus.
 
Keith competes in sprints at Pickneyville HS where she has advanced to the IHSA Class 1A State Championships all three years of her prep career.  As a junior she was fourth in the state in the 400m with a finals time of 58.40.   She won both the 400m and 200m events at the Nashville Sectional.  Her 400m sectional time was 58.38 while her 200m mark was 26.41.  As a sophomore Keith won both the 200m and 400m at the Chester Sectional.  She placed fifth in the state in the 400m with a finals time of 58.63.   As a freshman she advanced to the state meet in both events placing second in the 400m and fourth in the 200m at the Sparta Sectional.   Her 200m time was 26.69.  Keith would go on to place seventh at the state meet in the 400m with a finals time of 59.11.
