After opening the 2016 portion of their indoor schedule on the road at the Illini Classic last weekend, the EIU men's & women's track & field teams will return home to the Lantz Fieldhouse as they host the John Craft Invite this Friday and Saturday.

YEOMAN HAS A PERFECT START
To begin the indoor track & field season, senior Amy Yeoman has started off her season with a pair of first place victories in the 800-meter run. He first of the two titles happened at home in the EIU Early Bird where she posted a time of 2:16.05. Yeoman earned her second first place honor in the 800-meter run last weekend at the Illini Classic as she improved her time to 2:14.63 at the meet.

Yeoman's time of 2:14.63 is a new indoor PR and also puts her in eighth place in the EIU women's indoor track & field record book.

With her success at the Illini Classic, Yeoman was named as one of three co-Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athletes of the Week. Amber Hughes of Tennessee State and Na'Asha Robinson of Tennessee Tech were the other females named as the co-Track Athletes of the Week.

FIRST PLACE FINISHES AT THE CLASSIC
As a whole, the EIU track & field teams earned a combined four first place trophies at the Illini Classic. Bryn Buckwalter threw for the furthest distance in the shot put as she ended at 45'10.75".  Janie Howse followed that up with a toss of 53'07.25" in the weight throw. Ashton Wilson leaped to a height of 6'05.50" in the high jump. Yeoman rounded out the list with her time of 2:14.63 in the 800-meter run.

ABOUT THE JOHN CRAFT INVITE
The John Craft Invite will be another two-day event beginning this Friday night (Jan. 22).  The multi events for the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put, and high jump will be held Friday.

The invite will resume with the field events of weight throw, shot put, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, and high jump beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 23). The running events of the 60-meter hurdles and dash, mile run, 400-meter dash, 600-meter run, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, 3K, 200-meter dash, distance medley, and 4 x 400-meter relay are expected to begin on Saturday around 11:30 a.m.

The teams that are participating in the invite are Chicago State, Illinois Track Club, Maryville, McKendree, and Murray State.

FOLLOWING THE EIU JOHN CRAFT INVITE
Following the John Craft Invite, the EIU track & field teams will travel to the Indiana Invite that will be held January 29-30.
