Track To Face Top Teams At Meyo Invite

More than 1,700 athletes scheduled to compete at Notre Dame

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s track and field will open the month of February competing against some of the nation’s top teams when they head to the Notre Dame Meyo Invite this Friday and Saturday in South Bend, Ind. The field includes more than 1,700 athletes with 45 women’s teams and 36 men’s teams scheduled to compete. 

The Panther men are currently ranked No. 9 in the Midwest Regional rankings as the Notre Dame Meyo field will consist of 17 teams currently ranked in one of the nine regional polls on the men’s side. The women’s field includes 21 teams currently ranked in their respective regional poll. 


Junior Zye Boey enters the meet having won four straight 60m dash races this season. He currently ranks 17th in the NCAA in the 60m event. Boey’s stronger event is the 200m where he clinched a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships at last week’s Illinois Intercollegiate. Boey currently ranks 3rd in the nation in that event. 

Redshirt freshman Mick Viken also enters the weekend nationally ranked as his mark of 17’1” in the pole vault at the Illinois Intercollegiate moved him to 19th in the NCAA. That mark also tied the school record previously set by current pole vault coach Kyle Ellis

The EIU women will be led by sophomore Erika Ramos who won the 800m last week at the Illinois Intercollegiate. Ramos winning time ranked second on the EIU career list for that event.
