Wilson Breaks EIU Indoor Shot Record

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois men's & women's track and field teams had their last meet of the indoor season before heading into the conference championships next week. 

The women were led by MaKenna Wilson in the shot with a personal best throw of 50-9 1/4. With that throw, she is now number one is EIU history for indoor shot. Kate Bushue placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:19.80.

Other top-five finishers were, Megan Adams in the 800 with a time of 2:21.71 and Katie Springer in fifth with a time of 2:22.21. In the 60-meter hurdles Shanisa Stinson placed fourth with a time of 8.84.

In the field, Paige Minor placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5-5. In the triple jump, Taylor Wright placed third with a jump of 36-11 3/4. Lastly, MaKenna Wilson was able to snag fifth place in the weight throw with a toss of 57-0 1/4.

The men were led by Franky Romano in the mile as he finished in second place with a time of 4:22.30. Greg Downs placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 44-8 3/4.

Other top-five finishers were Downs in the 400 in fifth place with a time of 51.54. In the 3000 Tyler Lay placed third with a time of 8:50.45 and David Thompson placed fifth with a time of 8:52.56. in the 60-meter hurdles Stenoree Allen placed fourth with a time of 8.64.

The Panthers are back in action Wednesday (Feb. 26) at the OVC Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
