ALLENDALE, Mich. - Eastern Illinois indoor track and field opened the Grand Valley State Big Meet in impressive fashion as the Panthers set two school records while senior Zye Boey set a meet and venue record in the 200m. 

Boey continued his dominant senior season by winning his fifth 200m event of the year.  Boey won the event with a time of 21.16 which set the Big Meet record and Kelly Fieldhouse record.  Boey was also the gold medalist in the 60m winning at 6.72.  Jake Mitchell was fifth at 6.89 and Kaleel Johnson was seventh at 6.98.

The two school records came from the women's team with senior Megan Gingerich taking part in both.  Gingerich was second in the 800m run with a time of 2:09.53 which improved her own school record time in the event.  Gingerich then ran the second leg on the 4x400 relay team that placed fourth with a time of 3:46.27.  That time broke the school record set in 1981.  Gingerich was joined by Emily QuinonesErika Ramos and Bridget Sanchez.

Quinones placed 10th in the 400m dash with a time of 56.37.  That time was good for fourth on EIU's career list.  Stefan Gorol cracked the EIU career top ten in the men's 400m placing sixth with a time of 48.42 which ranks tenth on EIU's career list.

Bryce Hogan picked up a first place finish in the long jump with a leap of 22'9".

Graham Morris was sixth in the men's mile with a time of 4:08.69 which is eighth fastest in EIU history.  Sean Wiggan and Bryce Basting posted top times in the men's 800m.  Wiggan was fourth at 1:51.76.  Basting was seventh at 1:52.56 which is 10th on EIU's career list.  Wiggan's top career mark was set in the 2009 season and is fourth on EIU's career list.

Jalisa Paramore was sixth in 60m hurdles with a time of 8.73 which ranks sixth on EIU's career list.  Other EIU women's top ten finishes from Friday's competition include Maura Cummins placing third in the high jump at 5'6".  Jade Riebold and Abigail Schmitz were top ten finishers in the pole vault.  Riebold was fourth at 12'7.50" and Schmitz was tenth at 11'9.75".

On the men's side other top ten finishers from Friday's action include Dominique Hall placing third in the 60m hurdles at 8.18.  Joe Noonan was fourth in the pole vault at 16'2.75".  Donald Romero was second in the weight throw at 63'4.25"

In addition to EIU competing in the Grand Valley State Big Meet, the Panthers also sent a contingent of athletes to the Indiana Hoosier Hills Meet.  Katie Ryan and Kenneth White both advanced to finals in their events on Saturday.  Ryan ran the 60m hurdles, White the 60m dash.

Sodiq Alliu was third in the men's triple jump at 45'11.75".  Reid Basting was sixth in the men's 800m at 1:57.21.  Danny Harris was seventh in the men's high jump at 6'4".  On the women's side Condia Smith was eighth in the weight throw at 50'3.25".  Katie Landry was eighth in the triple jump at 31'3.75".
