Six First Place Finishes For Track At UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Eastern Illinois track and field posted 17 top three finishes at the Northern Iowa Meet including six first place finishes between the men's and women's teams.

Jalisa Paramore had the lone first place finish for the EIU women winning the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.50.  Paramore came back in field events to post a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 18'7.25".

Calvin Edwards posted a pair of first place finishes in the men's 200m and 400m races.  He had a winning time of 21.62 in the 200m and 48.98 in the 400m.  He was a member of the winning 4x400 relay team that had a first place time of 3:19.73.

Mick Viken led a podium sweep for the Panthers in the men's pole vault.  The All-American senior cleared 17'2.75" to win the event.  He was followed by Peter Geraghty in second and Eric Gordon in third.  Geraghty cleared 16'8.75" while Gordon finished with a height of 16'2.75".

EIU's final first place finish was posted by freshman distance runner Paxson Menard.  Menard won the men's 3K with a time of 8:35.74.

Janie Howse was second in the women's weight throw with a mark of 54'10".  That distance ranks seventh on the EIU career list.  Riley Kittridge had a third place finish in the men's shot put with a throw of 50'5.25".

Amina Jackson and Danny Trevor both had top three finishes competing in the 400m hurdle event.  Jackson was second in the women's race at 1:03.80.  Trevor was third in the men's race with a time of 54.31.

Second place women's finishes were also turned in by Kailey JamesKirstie Wieber and by the women's 4x400 relay team.  James was second in the high jump clearing 5'5".  Wieber was second in the pole vault with a height of 12'3.50".  The relay team was second with a time of 3:55.55.

Bryce Basting capped the men's finishes with a second in the mile.  Basting posted a time of 4:16.43.
