EIU Men's Track Adds Two For 2011

Eastern Illinois director of track and field Tom Akers has announced the signing of two student-athletes that will join the Panther men’s track team next year. Signing national letters of intent were Cody Boarman and Daniel Delaney.

Boarman prepped at nearby Shelbyville High School where he was an IHSA Class 1A state qualifier in five events as a senior. He was a member of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams while earning individual state qualifier berths in the 100m, 200m and 400m runs. Boarman was the state runner-up in the 400m dash with a time of 48.97 while running the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay team that also placed second at the state championships with a time of 3:20.97.

Delaney competed at Carlinville High School where he earned a trip to the IHSA Class 1A state finals in the 4x800m and 1600m run as a senior. He was the state runner-up in the 1600m run with a time of 4:27.14 while running the opening leg on the 4x800m. His relay team placed 9th with a time of 8:10.11.

EIU finished the 2010 season winning the OVC Indoor and Outdoor Conference championships.
