EIU women's cross country
Panthers to open with two home meets

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois cross country has announced its 2010 schedule as the Panther squads will be under the direction of new head coach Erin Howarth. EIU will host two meets at home at the EIU Panther Trail before finishing the remainder of the season on the road.

The Panthers will host the “Peace for Meece” Memorial 5K on Saturday, August 28 at the EIU Panther Trail. This will also serve as the date for the Walt Crawford Alumni event as the coaching staff has decided to combine the dates for the two events this year. An earlier internet schedule had shown the EIU Alumni Meet set for Sept. 4, but that date has been scratched.

EIU will then host its annual Panther Open on Friday evening, Sept. 10. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and include a 5K event for women and an 8K event for men.

The first of three regular season meets on the road takes place on Friday, Sept. 17 as the Panthers compete in the Illinois Intercollegiate in Bloomington. Following two weeks off EIU will return to action on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Notre Dame Invite. The final regular season meet is Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Evansville Invite.

Tennessee Tech will host the Ohio Valley Conference championships on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Cookeville. The NCAA Regional is set for Nov. 13 in Peoria, Ill. with Bradley serving as the host school.
