EIU indoor track & field earns six top 20 finishes in day two at Meyo Invitational


SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Eastern Illinois University indoor track & field team finished the Meyo Invitational with a total of six more top 20 finishes, as three Panthers moved into the top 10 in EIU history in their respective events.

Adam Kessler posted the top finish for the EIU indoor track & field team in the second day at the Meyo Invitational as he ended the shot put in 17th place (52'04.75"). Fellow shot put thrower Riley Kittridge also earned top 20 honors as his throw of 51'09.25" placed him in 19th. Bryn Buckwalter posted a top 20 finish for the EIU women in the shot put as well. She rounded out the list in 20th (45'03.75").

Michael Brown and Amy Yeoman finished in 18th and 19th place in their respective divisions for the 800-meter run. Brown finished the event with a time of 1:52.89 and moved into second place in the OVC. Yeoman crossed the line with a new PR at 2:11.43 and moved into fourth place in EIU history and currently holds the top time in the OVC.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Michael MillerLars OttJa'Marcus Townsend, and Eric Gordon finished the event 18th overall (3:22.60).

Kristen Rohrer moved into eighth all-time in EIU history with her time of 4:59.68 in the women's mile, and is currently at a tie for the top time in the OVC this season. Riley McInerney reached top 10 honors in program history for the 3000-meter run. McInerney crossed the line with a new PR at 8:16.94 as he moved into ninth in EIU history and currently has the top time in the OVC.

The Eastern Illinois indoor track & field teams will travel to Allendale, Mich. next weekend (Feb. 12-13) for the Grand Valley State Big Meet.

Friday (Feb. 5) highlights included Maria Baldwin moving into fifth all-time in EIU history for the 5000-meter run (17:17.35). Rachel Garippo moved right behind Baldwin in the EIU record books for the 5000-meter run as she currently stands in sixth all-time (17:28.41).

Anita Saffa moved into fourth all-time for program history with her time of 7.60 in the prelims in the 60-meter dash.
