Track team huddle 2009

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois swept all four awards as the Ohio Valley Conference named its indoor track and field athletes of the week. Walking away with honors were Zye Boey and Joe Noonan for the men while Chandra Golden and Kandace Arnold won on the women’s side.

EIU will return to action this Saturday when they host the Illinois Intercollegiate at Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse.

Boey placed first in the 200 meter dash at the EIU Mega Meet winning the event in a time of 21.72 which ranks fifth best on the EIU career record book. Boey also placed second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.75 which just missed the NCAA Indoor Provisional mark and tied for sixth on the EIU career list. His times place Boey first on the OVC best list for this season for both events as he won the OVC track athlete of the week for the second time this season.

Golden picked up a pair of first place finishes at the EIU Mega Meet as she won her second OVC track athlete of the week honor. She won the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.75 while she cruised to win the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.76, a quarter second ahead of the second place finisher.

Noonan was the OVC male field athlete of the week after he won the pole vault at the EIU Mega Meet. His jump of 15'07.00" is his best this season and also places Noonan first on the OVC best list for this year.

Arnold placed first in the weight throw smashing her previous school record by 1'3" as she won the event with a mark of 59'09.75". Arnold also placed third in the shot put with a toss of 47'05.75", her season best and first on the OVC best list this season. Arnold's mark in the weight throw also places her first on the OVC best list for this season as she earned OVC female field athlete of the week.
