Track Back In Action At WKU Hilltopper Relays

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's track will return to action on Saturday competing at the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Relays.  EIU opened the season with two home meets at O'Brien Field and currently ranks 12th in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional rankings.

The meet will include host Western Kentucky along with Ohio Valley Conference schools Murray State, SIU Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri.  Bellarmine and Vincennes will round out the field.

Heading into the weekend EIU currently has two individual and one relay team ranked in the top 50 in the nation.  Zye Boey is ranked in both the 100m and 200m sprints.  Boey is 37th in the 200m and 46th in the 100m.  Boey was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that ranks 49th nationally.  He was joined on that squad by Kenneth WhiteKaleel Johnson and Steven Clark.

Mick Viken has the highest national ranking for an EIU athlete entering the weekend with a No. 26 ranking in the pole vault.  Viken cleared 17'2.75” in his only competition this season.

On the women's side the highest ranked national competitor is Megan Gingerich who is 84th in the 800m run.
