Women's Track/Cross Country Add Four

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois director of track and field Tom Akers has announced the addition of four athletes to the Panther women's roster for next season.  Joining the team will be Katelyn Duckett, Quincy Knolhoff, Angelica Anyaogu and Amanda Sanchez.

Duckett competed at nearby Shelbyville High School where she advanced to the 2012 IHSA Class 1A State Championships in the 3200m run.  Duckett placed ninth in the state meet with a time of 11:45.45.  She placed third in the Shelbyville Sectional with a time of 11:54.69.  Duckett placed 27th in the 3200m at the state meet as a junior.  As a senior in cross country she placed 19th in the IHSA Class 1A State Championship with a time of 18:18.

Knolhoff ran middle distance at Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran School earning a trip to the IHSA Class 1A State Championships in the 800m and 1600m as a junior.  She was second in the Robinson Sectional in both events posting a time of 2:28.48 in the 800m and 5:42.08 in the 1600m.

Anyaogu competes in sprints and jumps at Lakeville North High School in West Lakeville, Minn.  She advanced to Minnesota State Championships in the 100m, long jump and triple jump as a junior.   She finished fifth at the state meet in the long jump with a distance of 17'4.25”.  She was 10th in the 100m and 15th in the triple jump.  She has qualified for the state meet in those three events again this year.

Sanchez competes in distance for Rolling Meadows High School where she advanced to the 2012 IHSA Class 3A State Championships in the 3200m run.  Sanchez was fourth in the Roselle (Lake Park) Sectional in the event posting a time of 10:49.92. 

These four athletes join Kristen Rohrer, Victoria Quarton, Janie Howse and Amy Yeoman who signed with EIU earlier this year.
