Pole Vaulters Sweep OVC Weekly Track Awards

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois pole vaulters Mick Viken and Jade Riebold swept this week's Ohio Valley Conference weekly track awards as they were named the OVC Male and Female Field Athletes of the week.  EIU returns to action this weekend at the Notre Dame Meyo Invite.

Viken won his third straight OVC Field Athlete of the Week award as he matched his career best height in the pole vault competing in the invitational section of the Indiana Relays.  Viken cleared 17'8.50” for the second straight week.  He placed second in the event based on number of attempts.  Viken is currently 7th in the NCAA pole vault this year.

Riebold won her second indoor OVC Field Athlete of the Week honor this season winning the women's pole vault invitational at the Indiana Relays.  She posted her best height of the year clearing 13'9.25” to win the event.  Riebold is currently 7th in the NCAA in the pole vault this season.
