EIU Cross Country Competes At ISU Invite

Panther men 4th, women 5th at ISU Invite in Normal
NORMAL, Ill. - Eastern Illinois competed in the Illinois State Country Financial Cross Country Invite on Friday night in Normal with the Panther men placing fourth and the women fifth.

Mike Hesslau was the top men's finisher for EIU for the second straight week as the senior placed tenth overall in a competitive field. Hesslau posted an 8K time of 25:01.65.

Pablo RamirezRiley McInerney and Joe Calio crossed together as a pack in places 19 through 21. Ramirez was 19th with a time of 25:12.67. McInerney was 20th with a time of 25:16.24. Calio was 21st at 25:18.83. 

Bryce Basting was the fifth Panther runner scoring points in 27th at 25:34.44. EIU was fourth as a team scoring 97 points. North Central College was first with 28 points.

Freshman Emily Brelsfoard was the top EIU women's runner finishing in 14th place with a 5K time of 18:11.99. Victoria Quarton was 24th in the field with a time of 18:37.59.

The final three EIU scored runners for the women were Rachel GarippoGaby Duenas-Delaney and Kelsey Hardimon. Garippo was 32nd with a time of 18:50.25. Duenas-Delaney 36th at 18:53.56. Hardimon posted a time of 18:54.11 crossing in 38th place.

EIU women's team placed fifth with 115 points. Bradley won the women's race with 21 points.
