Men's Cross Country 6th At Notre Dame

Women place 12th with three freshmen runners scoring
 
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Eastern Illinois men's cross country had a strong showing on Friday afternoon finishing sixth in the Gold Division in the Notre Dame Invite. The Panther women placed 12th in the meet also running in the Gold Division.

Senior Pablo Ramirez led the Panthers placing 14th in the 5 mile race with a time of 25:55.2. Ramirez helped EIU finish sixth as a team among 23 entered teams. Mike Hesslaucontinued his strong season placing 39th with a time of 26:31.9.

Matt BlackDanny Delaney and Paxson Menard rounded out the five scoring EIU runners. Black was 53rd with a time of 26:45.4. Delaney was 60th with a time of 26:51.0. Menard was 72nd with a time of 26:58.6.

On the women's side Victoria Quarton and Emily Brelsfoard were the top EIU runners for the third meet this season with Quarton finishing in 38th and Brelsfoard in 40th. Quarton's 5K time was 18:34.6. Brelsfoard's time was 18:35.9.

EIU finished 12th in a field of 26 teams with Kelsey HardimonRachel Garippo and Ivy Handley rounding out the EIU women's scored finishers. Three of EIU's top female finishers are true freshmen. Hardimon was 67th with a time of 18:56.5. Garippo was 71st with a time of 19:02.7 and Handley was 103rd with a time of 19:23.7.

EIU returns to action on Oct. 19 competing at the Pre-National Invite in Terre Haute.
