Cross Country Set For Notre Dame Invite

Panthers to compete in men's and women's Gold Division
 
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country returns to action on Friday afternoon competing in the Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational as part of the Gold Division race. The women's race begins at 1 p.m. followed by the men's race at 1:45 p.m.

The women's Gold Division race includes 26 teams with six listed in this week's USTFCCCA Regional rankings. Texas Arlington is ranked 10th in the South Central Region. Southern Illinois is 11th and Loyola-Chicago 12th in the Midwest Region. Pittsburgh is 14th in the Mid-Atlantic Region and Central Michigan is ranked 15th in the Great Lakes Region. Ohio Valley Conference member Belmont is ranked 14th in the South Region.

The men's Gold Division race includes 25 teams with four lists in this week's USTFCCCA Regional rankings. IUPUI is 10th and Central Michigan is 14th in the Great Lakes Region. UT San Antonio is ranked 14th in the South Central Region. Bradley is ranked 15th in the Midwest Region.

The Panthers last competed three weeks ago at the Illinois State Invite. EIU was led by freshman Emily Brelsfoard on the women's side as all of the Panthers top three women's runners have been freshmen or sophomores this year. On the men's side senior Mike Hesslau has been the top finisher for EIU in both meets including a first place finish at the season opening Walt Crawford Invite.
