Track Hosts EIU Twilight On Friday

Field events begin at 10 a.m. / track events at 4 p.m.
 
 
EIU is coming off a strong performance at the Indiana Billy Hayes Meet.  EIU had five first place individual finishes for the women and five individual first place finishes by the men.  Three of the Panthers four relay teams picked up first place times.
 
The women were led by Amina Jackson who set the school record in the 400m hurdles with a first place time of 1:00.73.  Maria Baldwin was first in the women's 3,000 meters with her time of 9:58.37 ranking third on the EIU career charts.  Briana Walker won the 200m dash and Katie Ryan rounded out the first place finishers for the women on the track with a win in the 100m hurdles.  Nicolette Diana won the women's javelin.
 
EIU had five other marks that landed in the EIU career top ten for the women.  Kristen Paris time of 2:08.76 in the 800m ranks fourth on the EIU career list.  Ivy Handleyand Rachel Garippo both posted steeplechase times in the top ten.  Handley's time of 11:16.15 moved into eighth while Garippo's time of 11:22.44 was good for ninth.  In throws Janie Howse posted a shot put distance of 44'7.50" ranking 10th.  Diana's mark in the hammer of 152'7" landed at ninth.
 
On the men's side David Johansson was named the OVC Track Athlete of the Week winning the javelin with a throw of 205'3".  Norvel Mohammad won the 200m and 400m dash.  His 200m time was 20.96 while his 400m time of 46.53 ranks sixth on the EIU career top ten.  Brock Ramos won the 3,000m run and Johnathan Boey won the 100m dash.
 
EIU had three other times that landed in the career top ten at the IU Billy Hayes Meet.  Ephraim Dorsey's time of 1:49.43 in the 800m moved him into third on the EIU career list.  Michael Brown's time of 1:50.96 pulled him into a tie for 10th best in school history.   In the steeplechase Joe Calio ran a time of 9:00.73 which is fourth fastest in school history.
 
On the relay front EIU won the men's and women's 4x100 relays.  The women's team consisted of Angelica Anyaogu, Walker, Anita Saffa and Nyjah Lane with their time of 46.35 ranking fourth at EIU.  The men's 4x100 relay included Zach BoothCalvin Edwards, Mohammed and Christian Ilunga-Matthiesen.  The 4x400 winning relay team for the men included Edwards, Dorsey, Derek Williamson and Mohammed.
