Eastern Illinois track and field will split its squad this weekend as the Panthers will send a large contingent of athletes to the Indiana State Pacesetter Meet on Friday and Saturday while eight athletes will be headed out West to compete in the 60th annual Mt. SAC Relays in California.
 
Select field events will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with the 5,000 meter run scheduled for 5 p.m.  The remainder of the meet will take place on Saturday beginning at Noon in Terre Haute.  Teams scheduled to compete in the meet include host Indiana State, Eastern Illinois, Detroit, Butler, Xavier and Valparaiso.
 
Last weekend at the Illini Twilight EIU posted 27 top five finishes including three first place performances.  At the recent meet Pedra Hicks won the women's 400 meter hurdles improving upon her own school record time in the event.  She also finished third in the 100 meter hurdles with her time ranking sixth on the EIU career list.
 
Haleigh Knapp won the women's high jump while Riley McInerney won the men's steeplechase.   Nick Phillips recorded a top ten EIU career mark in the men's hammer throw as he was third at the Illini Twilight and his mark ranked fourth on the EIU career list.
 
The eight EIU athletes that will be headed to the Mt. SAC Relays include McInerney, Knapp, Davion McManisChrisford StevensBrion PortisRyan PearceMaria Baldwin and Darneisha Spann.   They will be competing in the following events.
 
Maria Baldwin – 10,000 meter run (Thursday night)
Riley McInerney – Steeplechase (Friday)
Davion McManis – Long Jump (Friday)
Chrisford Stevens – Triple Jump (Friday)
Darneisha Spann – 100 meter hurdles (Friday)
Haleigh Knapp – High Jump (Saturday)
Brion Portis – Triple Jump (Saturday)
Ryan Pearce – Discus (Saturday)
