BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – In what served as the final tune up for the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field Indoor Championships, two Eastern Illinois athletes were named OVC Athletes of the Week based on their performances at the EIU Friday Night Special. Senior Darren Patterson was named the Male Track Athlete of the Week while sophomore Jill MacEachen was named the Female Track Athlete of the Week. 


Patterson competed in the 200m and as a member of the 4x400 relay team on Friday Night. He won the 200m dash with a time of 21.85 while he ran the anchor leg on the first place 4x400 relay squad at 3:20.65. 

MacEachen placed second in the 60m hurdles at the Friday Night Special with a time of 8.89. That mark was good enough to land at No. 7 on the EIU career charts. 

EIU hosts the OVC Indoor Championships this Friday and Saturday at Lantz Fieldhouse. The EIU men and women will be looking for a third straight OVC Indoor title.
