Boey, Viken Lock Up NCAA Championship Spots

AUSTIN, Texas - Zye Boey advanced to the NCAA National Championships in his second event while Mick Viken became the third individual to qualify for Eastern Illinois as the Panthers completed the final day of action at the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas.

Boey placed second in the 200m semifinals on Saturday evening with a time of 20.37.  Boey will advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa where he will compete in both the 100m and 200m.

Boey just missed qualifying in a third event as the men's 4x100 placed 13th.  The Panthers missed qualifying by just 0.20 seconds as Washington locked up the final spot out of the West Region.  Boey was joined by Jacob MitchellKaleel Johnson and Steven Clark.

Viken moved on to the NCAA Championships in the pole vault as he cleared 17'8.50".  Viken was among seven athletes tied for first at that height as the top twelve athletes advanced.  Teammate Joe Noonan did not clear a height.

In the men's 110m hurdles Dominique Hall placed 23rd in the semifinals with a time of 14.11.

EIU men's 4x400 relay placed 20th on Saturday with a time of 3:11.42.  The relay team was comprised of Joe AugustineStefan GorolSean Wiggan and Cody Boarman..

The NCAA Outdoor Track National Championships take place June 6-9 at Drake University.
