Panthers among five schools in Saturday meet in Normal
 
Eastern Illinois men's and women's track continue spring action this Saturday at the Illinois State Redbird Invite.  Field events will begin at 10 a.m. with running events slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
 
Five teams are set to compete in the one day meet with host Illinois State, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Loyola-Chicago and Bradley.
 
The Panthers competed last weekend at the Indiana State Gibson Invitational.  Riley McInerney and Haleigh Knapp both picked up first place finishes for EIU.  McInerney won the men's steeplechase with a time of 8:58.00 which ranks fourth on the EIU career list.  Knapp won the women's high jump clearing 5'7.25" in the meet.
 
On the women's side Amy YeomanRachel Garippo and Ruth Garippo all had times that ranked in the EIU career top ten.  Yeoman was second in the 800m with her time of 2:11.87 ranking tenth on the EIU career list.  Rachel Garippo was second in the steeplechase with a time of 10:46.15 which ranks third all-time at EIU and is the fastest time in the OVC this season.  Ruth Garippo was fourth in the steeplechase with her time of 10:55.33 ranking fourth on the EIU career list.
 
For the Panther women Brion Portis was second in the triple jump.  Janie Howse was third in the hammer with freshman Kaitlyn Ebert third in the javelin.
 
On the men's side Mark Pedziwiatr was second in the 800m run with Jamal Robinson placing second in the 100m dash.   Eric Gordon turned in a second place performance in the pole vault.
