Panthers set to compete in final regular season meet

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and field will compete in its final regular season meet of the season this weekend at the Louisville Twilight.  Following this Friday's meet the top 48 athletes and 24 relay teams in each event will advance to the NCAA West Regional in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 29-31.
 
Currently EIU has athletes ranked in the top 48 in the West Region in four events with two additional athletes sitting just outside the top 48. 
 
Jalisa Paramore is the lone EIU women's competitor currently ranked in the top 48 as she is on track to advance to the NCAA Regional in two events.  She is ranked 15th in the region in the long jump and 27th in the 100m hurdles.
 
Peter Geraghty and Mick Viken are both ranked in the top ten in the men's pole vault.  Geraghty is fourth and Viken seventh as both athletes have cleared the 18' mark this season. 
 
Kaleel Johnson is the final EIU men's athlete currently ranked in the top 48 in the region as he is 36th in the men's 100m dash.
 
Calvin Edwards and Daniel Trevor just sit outside the top 48 in their events.  Edwards is 50th in the men's 400m dash while Trevor is 54th in the men's 400m hurdles.
 
Throws events begin at 10 a.m. at Louisville on Friday with field events and running events slated for a midday and evening schedule.
